As of October 1st of this year it became mandatory to have winter tires for the province of British Columbia. In Alberta, where we live, winter tires are not mandatory so many people either have all-season tires or three season tires and do not change their tires in the winter. This year will become a bit difficult for some Alberta residents who have a second home in British Columbia because they will have to buy some new tires so they can travel to their second home. The M + S symbol on the tire stands for Mountain and Snowflake.
