The other day we had a hockey party for my son's team at a community lake near our house. Unfortunately it was a bit too warm to go on the ice for a skate but I wanted to take a few pictures to show what some of the community lakes look like in Calgary. Many communities have man-made lakes that the community members can enjoy all season. In the summer, these lakes are stocked with fish so people can go fishing. In winter, there are rinks cleared off as well as skating paths around the lake. Most lakes have a fire pit on a side rink where people can skate around. These lakes are only open to members of the community and each member pays a yearly lake fee to use the facilities.
